Walking Street, Angeles City. You can’t go wrong if your hotel is close to here.

Angeles City has some great guest friendly hotels. Unfortunately, some of these nice hotels are in bad locations for getting around and getting to the bars and back easily. I’ve stayed at most of the places in this list so have personal experience of being a normal guest at these places.

This guide is designed to help ‘Bangkok 112’ Subscribers when booking hotels in Angeles City. There are no cookies in the links below, so if you do choose a hotel from this list then please consider clicking from the link below and booking straight through. This will be at no extra cost to you, any commission will go straight back into improving Bangkok 112 YouTube videos and maintaining this website. Thank you for your support and I hope that this information will be of use to you.

NB. All the hotels below are ‘guest friendly’ meaning there are no girl joiner fees if you stay alone. Make sure you check 2 in the people staying in the room when booking just to be 100% sure.

Angeles City and the Philippines in general is known for having higher hotel room costs related to Thailand, so don’t expect a nice, clean 4-star room in a great location for $25, it simply doesn’t exist.

At a glance:

Phoenix Hotel from $23

Red planet Angeles City from $30

Garden View Hotel from $33.50

Pacific Breeze Hotel & Resort from $42

Score Birds Hotel from $43  [WILD CARD]

Hotel Royal Amsterdam from $43

Central Park Tower Resort from $66

ABC Hotel from $105

Seasoned budget travellers need only apply at the Phoenix

Phoenix Hotel

A 2-Star, guest friendly hotel with 33 rooms.

Room rates start from around $23

Budget hotel on Perimeter road that has a very good reputation with repeat visitors. 24 hour bar and restaurant, swimming pool, free WIFI in the rooms. Far away from Fields Avenue / Walking Street so you need to use local transport.

Overall: I stayed at the Phoenix hotel, and I’d recommend only to book here if you are a seasoned traveller and are used to staying in budget accommodation. The 24 hr bar/restaurant is popular with local expats and all the food I ordered was good. But the location is not ideal for Angeles City newbies, as you have to walk far or take local transport to get to the main drag.

The 15 sq m ‘Deluxe’ room I stayed in was very old and tired, so once again this is a place for people on a tight budget only.

Tips: Book direct through this agoda link for the best prices. I was quoted just 1170 PHP ($23) for a standard room in August 2017 which represented good value.

They offer a free pickup from the airport which was a nice touch.

Red Planet Hotel, located directly on Don Juico Avenue (nice car)

Red planet Angeles City

A 3-Star guest friendly hotel with 165 rooms.

Room rates start from around $30

Formerly a Tune hotel, Red Planet is a hotel chain that has identical properties all over Asia including Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia.

Rooms are clean and well appointed, but at 14 sq m they are smaller than average. The location in Angeles City is not the best all the way out on Don Juico Avenue, but there are some longstanding bars with character nearby and it’s the perfect location to start a bar crawl drinking in random bars all the way down to Field’s Avenue 🙂

I stayed at the Red Planet Pattaya and see this YouTube video for the lowdown of what you can expect from a typical Red Planet room.

Overall: I like the Red Planet hotels but they are not for everyone. They kind of remind me of a poor man’s IBIS hotel. However, I like the rooms because they are reliable, cheap, clean have good beds / bathrooms and are guest friendly. The rooms are small and the facilities are lacking so if you are adverse to this then stay elsewhere.

Tips: Book through this agoda link for the best prices, I was quoted 1496 PHP ($30) for a double room in August 2017 which was good value.

High Society Nightclub, one of the many reasons to stay close to Walking Street. It was almost overflowing with freelancer ladies when I visited.

Garden View Hotel (agoda preferred property – good value and service)

A 2 Star, guest friendly hotel with 21 rooms.

Room rates start from around $36.50.

Small hotel, that has good reviews and possibly the smallest swimming pool you’ll ever see 🙂

Overall: This hotel was around $30 a night, but has recently (May 2017) raised their room rates based on the excellent reviews they consistently get on Trip advisor and agoda. So it’s a popular place

The location is not the best for the bars as you will definitely have to do some extra walking.

Tips: Book online through this agoda link for the best prices, I was quoted 1666 PHP ($32.50) a night in July 2017.

You can see more details of Garden View Hotel in this YouTube video posted by ‘Dead Farang.’ Also check out his other videos as they are often unique and it’s definitely one of the better channels out there.

Pacific Breeze’s cheapest room

Pacific Breeze Hotel & Resort   [ I stayed in a deluxe room, 25 sq m, paid $44 for their cheapest room ]

A 3-Star, guest friendly hotel with 110 rooms.

Room rates start from around $42

Excellent location for the main drag of bars on Walking Street, but the rooms are still quiet at night. Close to the Score Birds hotel, and Wild Aces poker room. Free WIFI in the room, nice large swimming pool, fitness centre onsite. This hotel has the same management as the nearby Central Park Tower hotel. Consistent 4 star reviews online.

The main attractions of this hotel are the location and good service, and as I type this they are fully booked for this weekend so they must be doing something right. Chatting with a few fellow guests it seems they have many repeat customers who like the location/price and this is the ‘go to’ hotel for many. So if this place falls within your budget then you can’t really go wrong here.

Tips: Book your room online through this agoda link for the best room rates, I was quoted 2100 PHP ($42) for a standard room in August 2017 which was good value.

Saturday Pool Party at Score Birds hotel.

Score Birds Hotel       [WILD CARD HOTEL – for party animals only]

A 3-Star, guest friendly hotel with 61 rooms.

Room rates start from around $43.

Score Birds is owned by the Dollhouse bar group, who run many of Angeles City’s most popular bars including Club Atlantis, Pony Tails and Club Asia. The pool area was designed with swimsuit competitions in mind and every Saturday there is a show from 2-6pm where many scantily clad local ladies competing for cash prizes. These pool parties are a must visit and there is ‘open photography’ too so you can snap away at the bikini clad ladies to your hearts delight.

Rooms are reported to be clean and well appointed.

Overall: This hotel is a single man’s dream hotel, if you want to party and let it all hang out then book in here and enjoy the ride! It will be eventful that’s for sure! 🙂

Tips: Book your room online through this agoda link for the best room rates, I was quoted 2129 PHP ($43) for a standard room in August 2017 which was good value.

Warning: do not stay at Score Birds if you like peace and quiet. Music is played throughout the day and evening that echoes around the rooms, and at night some rooms are affected from the noise from High Society nightclub nearby. So when you check in make sure to specify you’d like a room away from the club noise.

Non-guests of the hotel can attend the Saturday pool parties, the charge for each person is 500 PHP ($10) consumable with food and drink which is a great deal. I thoroughly enjoyed my first Score Birds pool party 🙂

My room in the Royal Amsterdam hotel

Hotel Royal Amsterdam      [excellent hotel in the heart of the action, video review coming soon]

A 3-Star, guest friendly hotel with 39 rooms.

Room rates start from around $43.

A highly rated hotel directly on Walking Street opposite Grand Central hotel and next to Viking bar. Royal Amsterdam guests can use the swimming pool and fitness room of the nearby Queen’s hotel which is the sister property. 24 hour room service, good WIFI and helpful service staff.

Overall: I stayed here and wouldn’t hesitate to book in again as I really liked this hotel. The room was big, clean and everything was in full working order. I requested a room facing the bars and that’s what was granted. I was expecting some excess noise at night but the rooms were really well soundproofed so it didn’t disturb me one bit. The rooms at the back of the hotel are even quieter.

Tips: Book direct through this agoda link for the best prices, I was recently quoted 2154 PHP ($43) for a room in July 2017 which is excellent value for what you get.

Special Tip: To reserve a similar superior room to the one I stayed in book direct through this link on booking.com. Make sure to request a front facing room in the ‘Special Requests’ section. The price is 2650 PHP ($53) a night and you pay the money at the hotel.

My room in Central Park Tower hotel, the cheapest they had but still the best I stayed at when I was in Angeles City.

Central Park Tower Resort     [my favourite hotel in Angeles City, video review coming soon]

A 4-Star, guest friendly hotel with 238 rooms.

Room rates start from around $66.

Highly regarded hotel in a very central location for the main strip of bars and restaurants of Angeles City. Owned by a US businessman (along with the nearby Pacific Breeze hotel). The hotel was built in 2014 and the rooms still have a new feel to them. Nice rooftop pool on the 12th floor, along with a 24 hour bar and restaurant giving panoramic views of the surrounding area.

Overall: I had an excellent stay at Central Park Tower. My room was furnished to a very high standard, the bed was very comfy and the bathroom was top quality.

I found the service excellent here too; I returned at 8am after a long evening on the town and they granted me a 2pm checkout with no fuss which was refreshing. If you are planning on having late nights drinking on Walking Street then having a hotel close by like this one is a very good idea, as it eliminates the need to use local transport late at night.

If this hotel falls within your price range then forget the rest and just book in here. Reactions from the girls in the bars were favourable for this place, some lit up like a christmas tree when I mentioned it as Central Park Tower has a very good reputation locally.

Downsides to this hotel (no place is perfect) were that the fitness centre was under construction when I visited. You do get access to the nearby Pacific Breeze hotel fitness room but it’s not convenient. So if working out is essential to your stay then maybe look elsewhere.

There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, but this is standard for many hotels in the Philippines.

Tips: Book directly through this agoda link for the best prices, I was quoted 3300 PHP ($66) for a room in October 2017.

Request a high floor when booking and checking in. Also, they have both smoking and non-smoking rooms segregated off so specify this when booking and checking in too just to sure.

ABC hotel is located on Don Juico Avenue near the Pony Tails girlie bar.

ABC Hotel from $105

5-Star, guest friendly hotel with 139 rooms.

Room rates start from around $105.

A unique 5-star property aimed at affluent male solo travellers. Room decor is decadent and indulgent, it really makes for an ‘experience’ to stay here. The service here is noted to be the best in Angeles City, they have nice touches like maid service on demand. Excellent swimming pool and fitness centre as you would expect. The onsite restaurant serves some of the best food in the area too, which in a city with mediocre food almost everywhere you go is a big bonus.

As of early 2017 a new rooftop pool/bar named ‘Aqua’ opened and it’s a very popular spot especially at sunset.

The hotel location on Perimeter Road (Don Juico Avenue) isn’t the best, but this is offset by a 24 hr free shuttle on hand to take you to any bar nearby.

Overall: The hotel itself is an attraction in the city. Reviews of ABC hotel are glowing all round and it’s basically the best place by a mile (if you have the cash). Review comments consist of titles like ‘A King’s Palace,’ ‘Was a 5 star, now its 7’ and ‘You only live once – live it well.’

If you want to treat yourself then this is the place, and the bar ladies will look on you very favourably if it comes out you’re staying at ABC hotel, and you possibly may have improved encounters with them.

Tips: Reserve your room through this agoda link for the best prices, I was quoted 5253 PHP ($105) for a standard suite in September 2017.

Promo ladies in their spots to entice in potential customers to their bars at Walking Street

Also consider:

Grand Central Hotel

A 3.5 Star, guest friendly hotel with 20 rooms. Room rates start from around $52.

The hotel connected to the Grand Central cafe which is a very popular meet-up and people watching spot directly on Walking Street. Rooms here are ok but some recent reviews consistently state that maintenance is not as good as it should be. If you do choose to stay here definitely book the deluxe room to have a balcony overlooking the action on Walking Street (you can see the Viking bar opposite).

Fields Plaza Suites

4-Star, guest friendly hotel with 21 rooms. Room rates start from around $120.

This hotel is a ‘condo-hotel’ with massive rooms, the smallest being 65 sq m. Rooms all have kitchenettes and are well appointed and grand. The location is excellent here being next to the McDonald’s restaurant at the East end of Walking Street, so all the best bars are within 5 mins walk. No restaurant is a slight drawback. This property has the same management as ABC hotel and the staff alternate between the two, meaning first class service is guaranteed.
