Pattaya’s Best Hotels – $20-40 a night (2023)

Bangkok 112 Pattaya

Pattaya has some great hotel options in the $20-40 range. This is a list of my personal favourites. I’ve stayed at most of these and would recommend them to anyone.

This guide is designed to help ‘Bangkok 112’ Subscribers when booking hotels in Pattaya. There are no cookies in the links below, so if you do choose a hotel from this list then please consider clicking from the link below and booking straight through. This will be at no extra cost to you, any commission will go straight back into improving Bangkok 112 YouTube videos and maintaining this website. NB. All the hotels below are ‘guest friendly’ meaning there are no girl joiner fees when you stay alone. Make sure you check 2 in the people staying in the room when booking.

Location is the number one thing I look for when booking Pattaya hotels. It can be a nightmare getting around if you are not close to the central baht bus routes. There are some very nice hotels in Pattaya, competitively priced, but they are in terrible locations for getting around. The last thing you want to do is walk for 10 minutes in scorching heat, or be forced to hire a motorbike or take short mototaxi rides that start at 40 baht.

Cleanliness is also very high on my priorities as I always want zero hassle from creepy crawlies in my room. Facilities (swimming pool / fitness centre) are a bonus but not essential to me as I spend most of my time in Pattaya drinking in the bars, sleeping or recovering from hangovers 🙂

So here is my solid list of the best Pattaya hotels in the $20-40 range. I have recommended these places to many friends over the years who come and stay in the area. Prices are from low to high and are quoted in $ Dollars for clarity.

At a glance (updated for 2023):

New Nikom Court from $18 [budget travellers only]

D Apartment 1 from $19 [budget travellers only]

Scenery Hotel from $29

April Suites from $30

March Hotel from $30

D Apartment 2 from $30

Pattaya Blue Sky from $30

D Hotel from $35 (my personal favourite in this price range)

Whisper hotel from $35

August Suites from $40

Locations of these hotels relative to the 4 main bar areas of Pattaya.

New Nikom Court  [budget travellers only]

2-star guest friendly hotel

Rooms from around $18

Basic, no frills hotel which would suit seasoned budget travellers only.

Amazing central location on Soi Lengkee. Perfect for getting around the city and for the bars and restaurants. Staying here you have to make compromises such as there is no swimming pool.

Under $20 a night at New Nikom Court

D Apartment 1 [budget travellers only]

Guest friendly rooms from around $19

Basic, no frills hotel that is suitable for seasoned budget travellers.

Great hotel in a very central location just off Soi Buakhao. D Apartment 1 does have access to a rooftop pool which is a big plus for some people.

At D Apartment 1 it’s a budget place so you might have to make certain compromises. Such as there is no lift which counts out people with mobility issues, and also roadside rooms could be too noisy for some people.

No lift but still a nice room at D Apartment 1

Scenery Hotel

3-star Guest friendly hotel with rooms from $29

A good choice at this price point. The location on Soi Honey is very strategic for the bars and restaurants. I had a good short stay here post Covid.

The rooms are very well appointed here and worth the money. When I stayed I saw a few guests extending their stays which is a good sign. However in my opinion the internal swimming pool is simply terrible (what were they thinking!). Also, the service is normally not the best here (you will know what I mean if you stay here).  But this is still a good option for a few days or to book last minute if you are in a tight spot.

Strange internal pool near the reception at Scenery hotel

March Hotel (video review here)

3-Star, guest friendly hotel with 104 rooms.

Room rates from around $30

Medium sized hotel, spacious and clean rooms with big balconies. Facilities are excellent for a 3-star hotel as they have a swimming pool, gym and a sauna. The Premier deluxe rooms have bathtubs. Location is 3 minutes walk to Second Road and Pattaya Central Road.

Overall: I’ve stayed here many times over the years. The modern rooms are great and this hotel is very popular with repeat visitors. I love chilling out in the afternoon sun on the balcony while getting Singha beers delivered through room service. It is refreshing to have a first class aircon unit, great TV, a comfy bed that’s not too hard, & great facilities for under $40 a night.

In my opinion the location isn’t the absolute best as its a short walk to Soi Buakhao or second road. But many year on year customers love March hotel as for the money it’s hard to beat.

NB: May hotel is at the back of March hotel and you could be allocated a room with no view. Make sure to specify when booking you want a city view and not an internal view room.

I’ve stayed at March Hotel many times. Great value for money!

D Apartment 2

A 3-star Guest friendly hotel with rooms from around $30

Great central location just off Soi Buakhao and nice rooftop pool. The rooms here are clean & very good value for money.

You could do a lot worse for the same money in central Pattaya. Lots of bars and restaurants close by. Simply a great place to stay in Pattaya.

Fun fact: When I first recommended this hotel to Bkk112 viewers I got some hate mail from regular guests of D Apartment 2 as the hotel is so good 🙂

Pattaya Blue Sky – Video of my stay here

A 3-star, guest friendly hotel with 63 rooms.

Room rates start from around $30.

Nice, clean 3-star hotel in a good location very close to the beach. Rooftop swimming pool, large fitness centre and great service.

Overall: I stayed here a few times and have always had a very good stay. The rooms are fine, and I loved the rooftop pool which is sometimes completely empty at sunset. The bathrooms are bigger than normal and the showers are perfect.

Great service as they’ve let me checkout at 2pm before because I was very hungover so bonus points are awarded 🙂

Pattaya Blue Sky is a very popular hotel and is often fully booked so reserve your room as far in advance as possible. It has been awarded a top choice award for by Agoda travellers in the past.

My room when I stayed at Pattaya Blue Sky. Nice and clean, 2 minutes walk to the beach. Close to Soi 6 too 😉

April Suites                  (view the video here)

A 3-star, guest friendly hotel with 79 rooms.

Room rates start from around $30.

A nice, clean hotel with modern rooms, good service and great facilities. It has a rooftop pool and bar, gym, and even a sauna. The location is on a quiet cul-de-sac and you are just off second road (with the baht buses) with less than a 5 minute walk to Soi 7 & 8.

Overall: April Suites often comes up when searching for the best value for money hotel in Pattaya, with good reason. I’ve stayed a few times in the past and always had a great stay.

Tip: Make sure to book a few weeks in advance as this hotel does get fully booked often.

A Deluxe room when I stayed in April Suites, the room was very clean and everything was in working order.

D Hotel (my personal favourite from this list, see the video of my visit here)

A 3-star guest friendly hotel

Room rates start from around $35.

A brilliant hotel for the money in a great location on Soi Buakhao. Spacious, clean rooms with balconies, very helpful staff and an amazing rooftop infinity pool. Free WIFI and unlimited Tea / Coffee provided in the lobby along with a kettle in the room.

Overall: This is my personal number one choice from this list. It’s no surprise Agoda has given it so many awards. Many inexpensive bars and restaurants are nearby and a 7-Eleven close by. The location is quiet at night yet you are never too far away from the action. No fitness room is the only negative I can think of about this hotel.

NB: D Hotel often gets fully booked especially in the high season (Nov – Apr) so reserve your room as far in advance as possible. Room rates could be higher if you book close to the date you are staying (I’ve seen them as high as $55 a night here).

Amazing rooftop infinity swimming pool at D Hotel. The rooms here are in my opinion are the best for the money.

Whisper hotel from $35

A 3-Star guest friendly hotel

Located just off Soi Buakhao, Whisper Hotel is a solid choice in a quiet location away from bar noise.

With well appointed, larger than average rooms for the money Whisper hotel is a good choice for this price point. I have a friend who stayed here for 2 weeks and he had nothing but good things to say about this place!

Nice rooms above at Whisper hotel

August Suites (Video of my stay here)

A 3-star, guest friendly hotel with 79 rooms.

Room rates start from around $40.

Free WIFI in the rooms, nice swimming pool, fitness centre and sauna. Clean and well maintained rooms. Good location just off second road so it’s easy to catch a baht bus. 5 minutes walk to the beach.

Overall: A very good value for money hotel in a great location. Owned by the same management as April Suites & March hotel. The rooms are larger here and the facilities are top notch. Many return visitors stay here and the hotel receives regular glowing reviews.

Tip: The restaurant is great here by the pool, the Red Curry chicken is a favourite dish of mine here.

Also consider:

Red Planet Pattaya Hotel (Video of my stay here)

A 3-star, guest friendly hotel with 192 rooms. Room rates start from around $20. Great place to stay if you just need a bed for a handful of nights and are not bothered about hotel facilities.

Opey De Place    (Video review here)

A 3-star, guest friendly hotel with 72 rooms. Room rates start from around $27. A dated hotel but it’s in a perfect central location for the bars and restaurants. Many repeat customers will only ever stay here so they must be doing something right!

Ibis Pattaya:

3-star, guest friendly hotel with 254 rooms. Room rates start from around $33. Clean, functional rooms with WIFI and a nice swimming pool. Quiet at night as it is away from the main bar areas. ‘If in doubt, just book the Ibis’ is a mantra that I tell my friends when you are totally stuck for a hotel in Thailand.
