Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) has some great value hotels. But there are many different areas to stay in the city so it can be hard at first to choose the best ones.

Bui Vien street, my advice is to book a hotel within walking distance of here. It’s the focal point for visiting tourists and has many hostess bars full of ladies too…

Saigon is paradise if you like drinking cheap beer

MUST READ: There are no true ‘guest friendly’ hotels in Saigon. This is due to the communist government having a law that states no local female can be a visitor to a hotel room with a foreigner after 10pm unless they are married (probably dates all the way back to the Vietnam war). The reality is in 2023 everything is becoming more relaxed and hotels don’t usually enforce this law.

I would say though to be extra polite with the reception and security at night, as they have the discretion to allow visitors to your hotel room. If you do have problems getting a lady back to your room, you can either take her to a short time hotel (she will know where), or if you’re getting shacked up together for a few days then simply check her into your hotel in the daytime.

I always recommend to stay in a hotel in District 1 which is within walking distance to Bui Vien street. This is right in the city centre and the most convenient location for sightseeing, dining and nightlife. Other parts of the city are only a short taxi / mototaxi ride away. As always in Asia, make sure you check 2 in the people staying in the room when booking.

My Room at Alagon City Hotel & Spa. The best facilities of a $55 hotel I’ve ever stayed at.

Bkk112 Saigon Recommended Hotels:

OYO 520 Friendly Homestay  from $15    [A great choice for budget travellers. A small guesthouse but it’s clean and does the job if you are looking for a no frills room. A 5 minute walk to the bars & restaurants]

Valentine Hotel from $28.50   [WILD CARD – located directly on Bui Vien street so if you like being in the thick of the action book here. You can see dancing ladies if you get a window room! However, the music might not stop until 5am! lol]

Gia Vien from $30     [A very solid choice and I usually stay here if I can get a room. It’s in the absolute best location for bars and restaurants. The windowless rooms are actually nice and quiet]

Saigonciti A from $34    [I stayed here before once, it was fully booked the next night so I had to move on. Amazing location for the bars and restaurants yet still quiet at night. A great choice]

Blue Diamond from $34     [one of the best locations near a tourist market, very popular hotel and gets fully booked often]

Duc Vuong Saigon Hotel from $32         [A great hotel with a very nice rooftop bar. Pro-tip book a superior or better for a great stay]

Alagon City Hotel & Spa from $55   [I stayed here and it was great. They have 2 swimming pools, sauna, jacuzzi, gym etc… A great choice if you are wanting to relax at your hotel]

Pullman Saigon Centre Hotel from $163    [a great 5-star hotel in an amazing location. The best service and breakfast buffet of all the Saigon hotels]

New World Saigon Hotel From $200    [well regarded 5-star hotel in a near perfect location]

The Reverie Saigon from $278    [Number 1 rated hotel in Saigon, it’s on par with the best Las Vegas hotels. If you hate money or want to splash some cash then stay here!]
